About Dr. Mailie – Edmonton Chiropractor

Dr. Mailie HarrisDr. Mailie completed her Bachelor of Science (Hons.) in Human Kinetics at the University of Guelph and then completed her Doctor of Chiropractic at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto, Ontario. While attending CMCC, she was extremely active in school life, serving as both Class Representative and Vice President of Students Council. Since graduating, she actively speaks for various organizations on diverse health related topics.

Dr. Mailie Harris is currently the Director and Head Coach of the newly created NHL Edmonton Oilers Cheer Team. She comes with a diverse background of experience in the professional sporting industry starting in her native province of Ontario. Dr. Mailie served as Head Coach and cheerleader for the Toronto Argonauts Blue Thunder Cheerleading team from 2004 – 2007. She coordinated Grey Cup half time shows for both Nelly Furtado in 2006 and Lenny Kravitz in 2007. After relocating to Edmonton in 2008, she was the Artistic Director of the 2009 Grey Cup in Calgary, coordinating all aspects of the entertainment at the Grey Cup Championship game.

Most recently she co-directed the 2010 Grey Cup Opening Ceremony flash mob, held here in Edmonton. She has treated both CFL players and cheerleaders for sports related injuries. Dr. Mailie has a special interest in treating sports related injuries and keeps current on the research evidence supporting chiropractic in the care of athletes. She has had excellent results in treating athletes from a variety of backgrounds.

Dr. Mailie frequently conducts presentations for a variety of sports teams in the area of injury prevention, including two recent Kamakaze Punishment UFC Fighter Seminars in Edmonton in 2010.

In addition to her work in the CFL, she also assisted in auditioning and securing talent for the opening show at the Whistler Medals Plaza for the 2010 Olympics and has floor directed “Honouring the Canadian Olympic Hockey Teams” at Commonwealth Stadium for TSN. She has also been a judge for the Alberta Cheerleading Association for the past 2 years.

Seminars featured UFC fighters such as Wanderlei Silve, Gabriel Gonzaga, Mike Swick, Sam Stout and Dustin Hazelett.
