Do you know what to expect during your Initial Consultation at THE CHIROPRACTIC WELLNESS STUDIO?
How long will my first appointment take?
Your first visit with Dr. Megan and Dr. Mailie may take as long as 1 hour.
How much will my treatments cost?
New Patient fees are $99.00 and future visits cost $45.00. Please ask about special rates for Seniors (65 +) and Children (under 18). We also offer special optional care packages for your convenience.
Don’t forget to keep your treatment receipts and submit them to your Secondary Health Insurance Plan for reimbursement!
Does your studio offer Direct Billing to Secondary Insurance Providers?
Yes! We now offer direct billing. Several insurance companies are recently allowing chiropractic providers to bill them directly for our services. These companies include Blue Cross, Great West Life, Group Source and Green Shield.
We also offer direct billing for Motor Vehicle Accidents, Workers Compensation claims, RCMP members, Veterans Affairs Canada and Funds Administrative Service (Trades Unions). Please bring your benefit card to your first appointment and we will be sure to make the billing process as simple as we can for you!
What kinds of questions will I be asked?
You will be asked to provide us with some specific information regarding your health history. During your initial consultation, Dr. Megan and Dr. Mailie will review your Health Questionnaire and discuss all area(s) of concern to develop a working diagnosis.
Do I need to have x-rays done before my first treatment?
In most instances there will be no requirement for x-rays before proceeding with your first treatment. However, Dr. Megan and Dr. Mailie may recommend that you have additional diagnostic testing conducted such as x-rays, bone scans, blood work, MRI, CT or bone density tests. These tests may be necessary to formulate a complete musculoskeletal diagnosis.
Will I be examined before proceeding with care?
A thorough physical examination will be performed by your on your first visit to assess the function of your nerves, joints and muscles. Your examination may include a neurological exam, assessment of joint play and range of motion testing. When your examination is complete Dr. Megan and Dr. Mailie will spend time explaining your diagnosis in detail and will provide you with information on your treatment options.
Will I receive treatment on my first visit?
In most cases you will receive treatment during your first visit however, if you have experienced recent trauma or if Drs. Megan and Mailie decide to order x-rays to gather additional information, treatment may be delayed to your second visit.
How should I know what to expect AFTER my visit?
Dr. Megan and Dr. Mailie will provide you with specific information about what changes to expect following your first session. It is very common for the type of pain you have been experiencing to change significantly, even after one treatment. These changes frequently include a change from sharper pain to more dull and achy pain, movement of pain from one location to another and pain becoming less constant and more intermittent in frequency.
We will also provide you with information such as recommended sleeping positions, activities to avoid, when to use ice or heat, recommended stretches, postural or ergonomic advice and ways to manage inflammation and pain.
What if I need to reach my chiropractor if I have questions after my appointment?
You will be able to reach your chiropractor Dr. Megan or Dr. Mailie via email or by telephone after regular clinic hours. After hours appointments may be arranged in special circumstances.
What if I have an EMERGENCY?
After hours emergency appointments may be arranged in special circumstances.
